1. Introduction

BhamaJobs (the “Platform”) is operated by the team behind BhamaJobs (“we”, “us” or “our”). The Platform is an employment and skills service available at jobs.bhama.app and its associated city portals.

The Platform is currently operated by Dhananjay Trivedi, trading as Bhama.app, Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, India. If the Platform is later transferred to a company, we will update this Policy and tell you.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of the individuals who use the Platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and safeguard personal information, and describes the rights available to you in relation to that information. It applies to all users of the Platform.

By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with its terms, please do not use the Platform.

2. Information we collect

We collect information that you provide to us directly, information generated through your use of the Platform, and limited technical information collected automatically. Broadly, this falls into the following categories:

  • Account information — details associated with the account you create or the third-party account you use to sign in.
  • Profile information — the information you choose to provide about your background, education, skills, experience and work preferences.
  • Contact information — the details through which you may be reached.
  • Application information — when you apply for a job: your name, phone number and email address, the experience and notes you write, any resume text or link you provide, and the job, department and employer you applied to, with the date and status of the application.
  • Employer information — for organisations that sign up: the account holder’s Google name and email address, organisation details, hiring preferences, and the content of the organisation’s careers page and job listings.
  • Usage information — records of your activity on the Platform, including opportunities you view, courses you undertake and applications you submit.
  • Technical information — device, browser and general usage data collected automatically when you access the Platform.

We do not knowingly collect any special or sensitive categories of personal information beyond what is described above. You are not required to provide any government-issued identity document or photograph. A resume is optional. Please do not include sensitive details in a resume or application that a job does not need, such as identity numbers, religion, caste or health information.

3. How we use information

We collect and process your information to help you find the right opportunity quickly.

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • To create, maintain and secure your account;
  • To provide, operate and improve the Platform and its features;
  • To identify and present opportunities, courses and recommendations relevant to you;
  • To process and transmit applications you choose to submit, and to let employers receive, review and organise them;
  • To let employers, if they choose, use an artificial-intelligence service to help review applications (see Section 9);
  • To let the people who run the Platform operate the service, give support and investigate abuse;
  • To communicate with you regarding your account, your activity and service-related matters;
  • To monitor and analyse usage in order to improve functionality and user experience;
  • To detect, prevent and address technical issues, fraud or misuse; and
  • To comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process personal information on the basis of the consent you provide at the time of collection, and for such legitimate uses as are permitted under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time as described in Section 13, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

5. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:

  • With employers — where you choose to apply for an opportunity, the employer you apply to can see your application information as described in Section 7;
  • With AI providers chosen by employers — limited application text, as described in Section 9;
  • With service providers — who perform functions on our behalf, subject to appropriate contractual obligations;
  • Where required by law — including in response to a valid request from a court, regulator or law enforcement authority;
  • To protect rights and safety — where we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud; and
  • In connection with a business transaction — such as a merger, acquisition or transfer of assets, subject to this Policy continuing to apply.

6. Service providers

We engage third-party service providers to host the Platform, authenticate users and analyse usage. In particular, we use Google’s Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore database and Hosting) to sign you in, store data and serve the Platform. Google may process data on servers outside India. These providers process personal information on our instructions and are permitted to use it only for the purposes for which it was disclosed to them. Their own processing of information is additionally governed by their respective privacy policies.

Where you choose to request personalised career advice, a short summary of your profile — the labels of your education, experience, skills and interests, and the titles of your top matched opportunities — is sent to a third-party artificial-intelligence provider to generate the advice. Your name, email address, phone number and account identifier are not included. The advice is generated for you on request and is not stored by us.

7. Employers, careers pages and applications

Employers can create an organisation account and a public careers page on the Platform. Everything an employer publishes on its careers page, including its name, description, job listings, pay ranges and any contact details it chooses to add, is visible to anyone who has the page address.

When you apply for a job, we send your application to the employer that posted it. That employer can see your name, phone number and email address, the experience and notes you wrote, any resume link or file you provided, the job and department you applied to, the date, and the status of your application. The employer is responsible for how it uses this information for its own hiring and may contact you using the details you gave. We ask employers to use applicant information only for recruitment, but we do not control what an employer does after it receives your application. To have an employer delete your application, contact that employer directly. You may also ask us, using the details in Section 18.

The people who operate the Platform can view all applications in order to run the service, give support, prevent abuse and investigate complaints. We use that access only for those purposes.

Applying requires signing in with a Google account. Your Google name and email address are used to pre-fill the application form and to identify your application.

8. Resumes

You may add a resume when you apply. If you choose a file (PDF, Word, text or zip, up to 5 MB), your own device reads the text out of it. The file itself is not uploaded to us and is not stored. Only the text is saved with your application. You can see and edit that text before you send it, or you can paste text instead.

The employer you apply to can read this text, and so can the people who run the Platform in order to operate the service. The text contains whatever you wrote in your resume, which may include your name, address, education and work history. We keep at most about 15,000 characters. If you add a link to a resume that you host elsewhere, we do not store or control what is at that link.

You can ask us to delete your resume text at any time using the details in Section 18. That removes it from our database, but an employer may already have read or copied it.

9. Artificial intelligence

We use artificial intelligence in two ways.

  • Career advice for you — described in Section 6, generated only when you ask for it.
  • AI-assisted review by employers — an employer may choose to use an AI service, such as Google Gemini or OpenAI, with its own account, to help it decide whom to contact first.

When an employer does this, the job description, the written answers in your application (your experience and your notes) and the text of your resume are sent to that provider. Phone numbers and email addresses are removed from your resume text first, and the name, phone number and email address you typed into the form are not sent. Other details in your resume text, such as your name or address if you wrote them there, may still be included. The AI returns a score, a short summary, strengths and gaps. The employer keeps these in its own private area. They are not shown to you or to other employers.

The result is only a guide for ordering calls. The Platform does not reject or select anyone automatically, and the employer remains responsible for every hiring decision. AI can make mistakes and can be biased. You may ask the employer to reconsider your application and to review it without AI. We tell employers to judge only job-related information.

The AI provider’s handling of the text is governed by its own terms, which may let it keep the text for a limited time. If we later run AI evaluation ourselves, we will update this Policy first.

10. Cookies and local storage

The Platform uses cookies and similar technologies, including browser local storage, to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and understand how the Platform is used. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies and clear local storage through their settings. Doing so may affect the availability or functionality of parts of the Platform.

11. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, including for the duration of your account, and thereafter for such period as may be required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

We have not yet set an automatic deletion period for applications and resumes. They are kept while your account exists or the employer needs them for its hiring, and we will publish a fixed period here when we set one. Where personal information is no longer required for these purposes, it is erased or anonymised. You may ask us to delete your information at any time using the contact details in Section 18.

12. Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. These include encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls, and restriction of administrative access to authorised personnel.

No method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify affected individuals and the competent authority as required by applicable law.

13. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Obtain confirmation of, and access to, the personal information we hold about you;
  • Request correction or completion of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Request erasure of your personal information;
  • Withdraw your consent to processing;
  • Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity; and
  • Register a grievance in respect of the processing of your personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 18. We may require verification of your identity before acting on a request, and will respond within the period prescribed by applicable law. If your grievance is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may refer the matter to the Data Protection Board of India.

14. Children's privacy

The Platform is intended for adult users. An individual under the age of 18 may use the Platform only with the consent and supervision of a parent or lawful guardian. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child otherwise than in accordance with applicable law, we will take steps to delete that information.

15. Third-party links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with any personal information.

16. International transfers

Personal information collected through the Platform may be stored and processed on servers located outside your state or country of residence, where our service providers maintain facilities. Where such transfers occur, we take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable law.

17. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will provide notice through the Platform and, where required, seek your consent afresh. Your continued use of the Platform following the posting of an updated Policy constitutes acceptance of that Policy.
